BIO
Luciano Denver creates unique landscapes that claim all the protagonism in each artwork and embody both the universal and the unrepeatable. In his photomontages, he tells stories and creates dreamlike scenes and a world of situations that generate confusion. With a defined style and language, his work is fresh and harmonious as a whole. Influenced by the Archigram group, Richard Hamilton's pop art, David Hockney's photomontages, Edward Hooper's painting, and Humboldt's expeditions.
Architecture and art have intersected since ancient times, and Denver contributes to this long interdisciplinary tradition of aesthetic exploration: his work reflects both his education and his imagination. However, if one delves further, it is discovered that there is as much of one as there is of the other, except that these two readings are articulated by entirely critical motivations.
"I have always been interested in photography to disassemble it and create collages, in the sense that timeless spaces can be constructed. However, it wasn't until I studied architecture that I began to photograph buildings and experiment with editing software, cleverly achieving something expressive and original. The images I compose are quite distant from reality, but I tend to edit and construct with great precision to avoid leaving traces or distracting connections. Therefore, an effect of pleasure and confusion is achieved. The result is purely dreamlike."
Born in Junín, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Denver studied Fashion Design and later Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. He then traveled extensively, starting his professional career with galleries in Spain in 2002, until settling in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2012, where he currently resides and works.
